Principal's Message

Koenig Elementary is an early childhood through grade four building serving about 275 students. It encompasses a professional and dedicated elementary school staff that strives on improving the success and accomplishments of our schools while targeting your child’s individual needs.  Adults (Treasure Hunters) believe in ALL children, care enough about them to invest emotionally and who are committed to helping them to navigate their futures. The Two Rivers School District believes in the Kids At Hope Framework  where “All children are capable of success-NO EXCEPTIONS!” The goal will be to redefine our practices to have a better understanding of ways in which every child is afforded the belief, guidance and encouragement that creates a sense of hope and optimism, supported by a course of action needed to experience success.

Students and staff meet monthly during all school assemblies to teach and discuss what it means to be a positive role model and citizen of our Two Rivers Community; where every child is immersed in the seven pillars of character including respect, responsibility, honesty, trustworthiness, compassion, fairness and perseverance. Students are given opportunities to practice and demonstrate these characteristics and will be acknowledged for their dedication to these traits.  We provide team based Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports that are research based and are taught and practiced in a productive learning environment.

You will also hear your child talk about community circles and how every classroom embraces the sense of belonging through the use of these circles; thus, building trust, enhancing communication, and fostering emotional well-being by providing a safe, equitable space for participants to share experiences, listen to others, and build empathy. These circles promote a sense of belonging and mutual responsibility, resolve conflicts, develop positive social-emotional skills, and allow for collective wisdom to be shared, leading to stronger and more connected communities.

Communication between school and home is hugely important to a child’s success in school. Having open lines of communication can make a big difference in building understanding, trust and working together to support your child’s learning. It can lead to improved academic achievement, a more positive attitude toward learning and a feeling of confidence.  We are certainly honored and privileged to have you choose Koenig Elementary for your child’s educational needs for the 25-26 school year and beyond!

Please feel free to contact any staff member or myself if you have any concerns or questions. Have a wonderful school year!

Yours truly,

Dana McLinn
